I wanted to go balls-out with the main theme. I wanted to take the old theme and take it in a new direction. Maybe it was ego on my part. I did, however, throw in a few nods to the original theme.
The original MIDI file of this had something like 20-25 instruments, all going at the same time, often playing a ton of harmonies in one channel. Even the mighty Sound Canvas buckled under that kind of data flow. So I had to record half the instruments separately, then mix the two WAV-files together in CoolEdit. That's what you get for showing off.
